The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) released a report summarizing lessons learned from surging the governmental public health workforce at state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) public health agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on data from a targeted literature scan and key informant interviews, the report describes: (1) the status of the public health workforce at STLT public health agencies before and during the COVID-19 pandemic; (2) strategies and supports that STLT public health agencies used to surge the governmental public health workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic; and (3) lessons learned and recommendations for directing investments in the STLT public health workforce to prepare for future pandemics. The report is part of the Lessons Learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic project, conducted in partnership with Mathematica.
